Law Library goes LiVE on Law Week

The Law Library kicks off its Law Week celebration with the launch of its Library Virtual Experience (LiVE!) on Monday, May 2, 2011. LiVE! is a new program that integrates social media and other online resources in the law library, making it more useful, accessible and fun to engage in and get involved with.

"There are many ways the community can benefit from the law library beyond physically walking through the doors of our branches," said John Adkins, Director of Libraries. "Through LiVE!, the law library will help drive the use of new technologies for accessing legal information. And we plan to have fun while doing it."

The initial LiVE! network incorporates Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, Yelp, and other online outlets to reach new audiences, including the law library's own interactive website. To learn more, go LiVE! and get social with your San Diego Law Library!

On Monday, May 2, 2011, our South Bay branch will host live demonstrations on how to use EZLegalFile, an interactive court filing program available on the California court's website. This online program helps you fill out court forms on varied legal issues. Sessions will be held between the hours of 12:00 noon and 4:00 pm.

On Thursday, May 5, 2011, Lorena Slomanson, Staff Attorney with San Diego Legal Aid Society, will lead a roundtable discussion on key legal issues facing tenants in an unlawful detainer action. Ever wonder what legal options you have after the Sheriff posts a lockout notice on your door? Or when you never received notice of the eviction lawsuit or court date? Or how to evict a roommate or subtenant who is not part of the rental agreement? All these questions and more will be discussed including the proper procedures for defending against an eviction action.  The roundtable discussion will be held from 12:00 to 1:00 pm.

For more information, contact the South Bay branch at 619-691-4929.
